Yes. Always get your money before you quit. I have heard of a few cases where working for a friend worked out. They are rare. Either the employer feels it is ok to take advantage of the friend or the employee feels it is ok to screw off.

I'd leave without watching the news, even though they don't really broadcast universities closing due to snow. So I'd leave and get there, (the roads were always terrible,) and then the class door would be shut. I'd have to go down to the computer lab to find the number for the central office to call them so learn that I shouldn't be there.

That was...fun. I did that two or 3 times.

I did my whole skipping school thing when I was in grade 6. My mom never found out, 'cause I'd always just delete the messages they left on our answering machine.
